So I keep pouring over the numbers in PT, trying to find out what the problem is. There are a few areas I need to work on
1) Lower my postflop aggression
I have an AF of 4.7
I need to stop trying to run calling stations over. Check more missed flops, especially OOP.
2) Stop sitting at tables with shortstacks.
I am too often just adding any table out of laziness. And I am often finding myself having to fold to some idiotstacks mini reraise preflop. Before I join any table, I need to make sure it is predominantly comprised of full stacks.
3) Run better
There is nothing I can do about this. But the numbers are staggering. Running that program that I posted a few weeks back, I am now down an astonishing $870 in EV on FT, over 85k hands, since I started playing there a few months ago. Since I have played predominantly NL50 still, this represents a ridiculous 17 lost buyins for that game, due to bad luck. Yesterday alone, the numbers say that I should have been down $80, not $340 or whatever it was.
I am not a member of the "It's rigged" crowd. I have seen other players graphs and prolonged downswings, much greater than 15k hands happen. I haven't had it easy in my poker career, being down EV on Stars and now to a ridic level on FTP. Yet I am still a lifetime 4ptbb/100 winner across all levels over the 300k hands that I have tracked in PT. I've seen people saying in forums that 4ptbb/100 is the best that can be achieved now in today's middle limit online NL games. Well if that is so, I guess I am doing a few things right.
I am going to get a late night session in tomorrow at NL50. I want to be cognizant of the first 2 ideas above and hopefully, the third one comes my way some day. I am not moving down by any means. I just need to go crush a lower game, and regain some confidence back.
These times are trying, but I will pull through. I have always been a winner. One week of breakeven poker, doesn't change that.

And back down we go
Another can't win night tonight. Just try and lose the least. Set over setted twice, KK to AA, nut flush beaten by 2 pair all in on turn etc. I haven't had a downswing like this since last summer. Its pretty sick. I wish it would stop but there isn't anything I can do. My play is solid. There isn't any tilt. I probably won't play tomorrow due to family engagements. I will try again on Sunday :)

The waters settle
After the huge swings up and down that welcomed me to NL100, today was a little bit more "normal." I probably should have been up $500 today. I made a couple mistakes. Especially the old classic, running your QQ into the maniac, the one time he has Aces.
I see now that this guy runs 55/12. I have tried HUD's and just can't get around the lag issue on FTP so I didn't know that he was exactly 55/12 at the time. But I knew he was crazy. Previously, in a hand where I made it like 10 or 15 to go with AKs in LP after a limp parade, he called with 89 off. So he is real bad, but maniacs get aces too. I have to get away here
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1107738
I knew this guy was really bad also. 29/6 as I see now. I think my play here is good. Just can't hit my outs. Story of the night.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1107744
Against another 78/6 maniac and a decent, tho very nitty and uncreative, regular. Was pretty sure I had the reg set over setted, tho its close. He had 33, so this was correct. And the maniac can have any 2 cards. Obv hoping it was 2 pair rather than the straight. But still, this is a clear call. Just can't hit my outs again.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1107756
Again just can't hit the cards. Haven't run the numbers but my equity in this pot is def higher than either of theirs. Can't fold here ever.

The Crossroads
Well it is the middle of the month. I have played about 50k hands. I have never actually even played this many hands in an entire month before. I thought I was running bad before. I am definetely running bad now. The last 5k hands have just been brutal. And this is a completely normal occurence in poker.
My ability to cope with this tiny downswing is troubling to me. That big losing day yesterday, affected me mentally. One day got to me! I could feel it all day today. And I took it to the tables tonight. I felt, for the first time in a long time...like I was on tilt.
So I quit a bit earlier than normal tonight, knowing that I was not in my best shape mentally, to play. This is good. But the tilt just can't happen. You can be a marginal winner and tilt. But in order to be a big winner, you can't tilt. I have to reevaluate what I want out of this game. Cuz if I can't handle 5k hands worth of adversity, there is something seriously wrong here.
I am going to post my midmonth graph in order to remind myself, why I play this game. I simply need to play more. 4k hands per day should be a minimum. Thats only 2 seperate 3 hour sessions.

Midmonth totals
$1362 made on the tables, almost exclusively at NL50, over 76 total hours @ 3.25 ptbb/100. Along with $2261 in MGR, which at 27% rakeback, works out to $610. All for a grand total of...

All Bad
I didn't play yesterday.
Well I guess I was due for it. Tonight was one of those nights where there is just nothing you can do. There is no way I could have won tonight. I was going to lose. The only question is how much. I think I did a pretty good job in mitigating against the damage but its still pretty ugly.
I actually thought, what if he has KJdd when I bet the turn. TT would have folded the flop. 22 would have raised the turn. So I put him on AK, or perhaps AT. I don't know how to get away here.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1100565
This hand was near the end of the session. It was probably a bit tilt induced. Its not the worst play in the world cuz I have 10 outs. But the reason its bad here is b/c its against an unknown, who as I know now, does not fold OP's
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1100578
I can't even find any other interesting hands to post. They were all like this tonight. This one I lose the minimum, so I'm happy actually.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1100587
I hit no sets. They hit them everytime. I was given a great second best hand a million times tonight. Often against shortstacks like this. There is simply no way to get away.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1100589
And the few times I had it in good, they sucked out for splits or gutshots or w/e. Anyways, as always, I try to keep the badbeat stories to a minimum here. I won't post anymore hands. I have poured over them all in PT and I was happy with my play tonight on the whole. I've seen these nights many times before. I will see them again. I will get back in there tomorrow :)

Hello NL100
So I moved up to NL100 tonight. Moving up always makes me a bit nervous b/c if you run bad at first it really sucks. I mean, I have a huge bankroll for the game and wasn't going to move down given one bad night. But luckily that wasn't the case anyways. I ran better than I have in weeks and killed the game for a nice score. This also marks 10 winning sessions in a row which is great also.
The game basically plays the same as NL50. Lots of shortstack fish and a few fullstack ones. The only difference is that a few of the regulars are a bit better. By this I mean, they actually will 3bet you PF without AA or KK sometimes. Regs on the whole are incredibly weaktight just like at NL50. Several times tonight, I'm just left speechless when someone checks the 2nd nuts behind on the river. Or a reg wins a 20 dollar pot with AA b/c they got called on the flop and go into complete shutdown mode lol
I don't know any of these players yet. I had detailed notes on a lot of the NL50 regs. It lets me know who I can take pots away from and who I can't. Obviously it will be easier for me to attack certain players tendencies as I get more experience in the game and make the notes.

Coolering someone. I run good.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1093537
And now for a hand that is interesting. Villain is one of 3 players who I identified tonight as #1 probably being a reg and #2 being a fairly solid player. I wish I could go back and play this hand differently. I really think I should have checked the turn behind so I could get this to showdown. I think he has the same hand as I do here the majority of the time. He has AA or KK or something that I beat like QQ or air equally small amounts of the time. By betting the turn I allow him to blow me off a what is likely a chop. And that is what he did. Good play by him. I just don't know enough about this player yet to look him up here. But if the range I put him on is anywhere near accurate, looking him up is slightly -EV anyways. Shoulda just checked behind.

Goodbye NL50
Well I'm done with that limit now as I have achieved the bankroll requirement I set. I will move up to NL100 tomorrow. I'm looking forward to getting in that game. I actually have more hands at NL100, than any other limit, throughout my poker career. So its nothing new.
Tonight things went decent. I made quite a few big hands. Its a weekend night so the games are extra soft. But I took the coolers obv as well lol. These included running my nut full house into quads on 2 occasions for basically full stacks both times. So fun.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1090502
Same as above. I always laugh at the screennames that have "fish" in them. They always are truly fish lol.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1090508
This is one of the quad over nut FH hands. Its weird they are happening so much lately. I don't think there is ever anyway to get away from this. Luckily I still hand 1 out remaining this time. But it never comes =/
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1090519
This hand was played against a pure Saturday night maniac. Some background. About 2 hands earlier he got almost half a stack in preflop with A7s against the other players AA. He called off the rest of his stack on the flop with a FD and sucked out. So this guy is just ridic bad. I honestly thought about just shoving the turn even tho were a bit deep. Obv the river card is the worst possible card in the deck for me. Maniac 1 Me 0 =/

So I made some money again today
I played fairly well. Played a lot of big pots. Still can't hit a set, 2pair, FD, SD or anything for my life when calling a raise PF, so its pretty tough to win at the rate I would like to. But money is money and I will be at NL100 soon where it'll be better.
I made several big hands today and managed to stack people on at least 5 occasions. Unfortunately there were tons of coolers also.
This was the best one. Am I supposed to get away here? lol The funniest part was that he slow rolled me after I shoved. As I see now (b/c I have chat turned off), it was to type "q4ads" in the chat to be extra cool. rofl

But getting fairly frustrated at this point. I just can't stop taking the beats from shortstacks and I can't make hands ever. But I'm not here to complain. I have run like shit all month and I'm posting my 7th winning day in a row. I will study PT some more and see if I'm doing something wrong. And then I will play again tomorrow.

Just when I thought it was over...
It isn't. Today I played a lot of hands. I don't think I have ever hit fewer sets in any session. I literally hit none. I also got plagued by some of the beats to shortstacks like AA < KT allin on a Txx flop which was killing my profit all last week. But I played pretty well on the whole. I still made a few mistakes. This was the biggest one.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1080533
This stuff can't happen. Its just killing my profit. It doesn't happen very often. I almost always make the correct laydown. I know this extended period of running like shit is what causes it. Just gotta make these laydowns always.

Back on Track
Cards were pretty good to me today. I hit an absurd amount of sets. Didn't get a ton of action and several turned into flushes for the villain but its better than nothing. Also didn't take too many of the beats like KK < AQ that have been killing my profit for the past week.
I am very happy to have gotten thru that 15k downswing, tilt free, and even posting profits on all of those days except one.
I know I have been delaying the move to NL100 for far too long. I will move up at $5500

So am I lucky?
I've been wanting to try this thing for awhile and finally got around to it. Its a script which calculates your EV and expected monetary results in Allin situations. Basically your "Sklansky Bucks." It was developed by some of the nerds in the software forum over at 2+2.
Fair warning. This program is not user friendly, but if you are somewhat competent with PC's you should be able to figure it out.
You need to have your PT Databases converted to PostgreSQL in order to make this thing work. Check out the PT forums for info on how to do that. It is worth the effort, trust me.
Make sure when you edit the settings for the prog that they look like this:
db_host = localhost
db_name =(lookup under file>maintain DB names in PT)
db_user = postgres
db_pwd = (DB password you entered when installing PostgreSQL)
screenname = (Your SN on the poker site)
filter_date = 2001-01-01(obv change to filter for newer results only)
filter_stake = none
filter_maxev = 1.0
filter_minev = 0.0
debug_mode = 0
So I post all these winning sessions on this blog here and I have made a significant amount of money at this game over the years (basically all at low stakes, NL200 or lower) Am I just lucky?
Site: Pokerstars

As you can see, when I am in an allin situation, I usually have 62% equity in the pot. Still, I am out almost $1000 USD in expected value. Also Full Tilt has screwed me much more than Pokerstars ever did as I am down more money in much fewer hands and at lower stakes =/
I am Unlucky

So I post all these winning sessions on this blog here and I have made a significant amount of money at this game over the years (basically all at low stakes, NL200 or lower) Am I just lucky?

As you can see, when I am in an allin situation, I usually have 62% equity in the pot. Still, I am out almost $1000 USD in expected value. Also Full Tilt has screwed me much more than Pokerstars ever did as I am down more money in much fewer hands and at lower stakes =/
I am Unlucky
The ugliness continues
I continue to run pretty bad. I am getting the money in good and playing extremely well but they are catching the 2, 3 or 4 outer nearly everytime. Also I am never hitting sets as the PF caller. Nothing I can do about it. It would be really nice to run decent again b/c I would kill the game like I have done all thru this blog. But my hands are tied at the moment.
I am very pleased with my play and continue to post profits even with all the BS. And I know with such heavy play, my rakeback will be huge next month. I can't complain.
This hand I'm not too sure how to play any differently. Obv the shortstack isn't important. But what can you do when some fish limps 54o in EP, then calls 5 more BB, then calls down on a dream flop for AA? Am I supposed to put this person on a 5?
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1073524
So much of Full Ring is just autobot poker. But often I do experiment with different lines especially when running bad. You don't get any hands. As a friend told me the other day, "make some." This was a failed attempt. Perhaps poorly timed but I have a lot of outs.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1073530
This was a successful attempt. I rarely do this kinda stuff cuz I'm only playing 50NL where first level thinking is about all my opponents can handle. That is..."what cards am I holding?" But again, I try to experiment from time to time.

OK(tm)
Ya today was one of those days. First 1200 hands i'm not sure if I won any significant pot. I took a long string of 3/4 outers and I was probably stuck 2 or 3 buyins. I say probably b/c I never look at my cashier during play.
Anyways, things turned around the rest of the session and I got it back little by little. I played extremely well today and was never even close to being on tilt. So results are pretty useless again today but I'm happy with my play and my stats (14/8/6). Aggression is still a little bit too high but I'm working on that, and I'm generally picking my spots well anyways.

I suck at poker =/
Played a really long session. I made a ton of mistakes in the first 1500 hands when I was running quite bad. The last 1500 hands I played much better and ran better. This was a very disappointing session b/c I should have been up big today.
This hand was just brutal on my part. Its embarassing to post it. This is such a basic fold its ridiculous. I have to play better than this. HU reraised pots, going broke is fine, 4 way to the flop I should never be going broke here.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1066393
This hand isn't quite as bad but I should have folded on the turn.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1066406
Again not terrible but should be a standard river fold. You aren't beating much.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1066414
I knew he had AT. I need to get away from spots like this on the turn. They don't raise the turn with hands I beat here.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1066417
Well only the first hand was truly terrible. I didn't play as bad as I thought after reviewing the hands in PT. I just took a lot of ugly beats today, which as always I won't bother posting. Still, one terribly misplayed hand is too many. I have to challenge myself to play better.

The Grind...
Today just felt like work. I played a lot of hands. I couldn't make many good hands once again. But I managed to book a decent win, as the few good hands I made got paid off big. I made a few small mistakes again but overall my play was decent. I'm getting too nitty, maybe I just didn't get dealt anything today who knows but 12/7 is too tight. Anyways, here's a couple hands.
Villain slowplays himself to death. Standard.

Friday night drunk/weekend warrior donation.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1063814
Another villain blows up!
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1063818
The standard cooler hand, I probably could have gotten away. Made a note on villain. He is sort of a regular. Guess I have all the implied odds in the world against him in the future. Nice.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1063819
Hmm, this pot I was happy with my read that he didn't have a queen. He insta potted turn = no queen. I just thought his pair was lower =/
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1063821
This happened a lot today. I have to stop firing with QQ and KK everytime on a A hi flop deep against a donkey just itching to put the big bluff on me. Just take the free card and go from there.

Rough Day
Today was one of those days where I lost every flip, KK to AA, flush over flush etc etc.
I think I played ok on the whole but there are some areas where I can improve. Have been pouring over my spew hands in Pokertracker and can find at least a buyin in mistakes.
This one pissed me off the most. This is probably the first time I have bluffed in a week and I have to remember never to bluff. They do not fold ever. Just b/c they bet like retards it doesn't mean they are weak. But more to the point...just don't bluff.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1060802
These 50NL games on FTP at night are just crazy. The tables are very loose and full of lunatics. I have been getting played back at a lot and I am going to have to adjust my game. I realized that with an AF of 5, my aggression level is probably too high even for the day games when its full of tight passives let a lone against a bunch of maniacs.
So I have been working on finding flops not to CBET. This is a good thing. A lack of agression is a much bigger problem and probably the primary reason most players lose. I don't really ever tilt,
but I need to be careful of the little spews here and there and respect the shortstacks.
Such as this. Yes I'm playing against retards who call raises with JQo. This was just a frustration call and I can't let it happen.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1060810
This hand was another mistake I made today. Its not the biggest mistake in the world but I put the money in as a 60/40 dog. He was not the preflop raiser and obv had a set. I should have just called the flop and then folded the blank turn (assuming he fires strong). It is only correct to jam a 15 out huge draw like this against the preflop raiser as I am a slight favorite against an overpair and I have fold equity.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1060811
This hand is another mistake and a clear spew. Its one of these 18 way limped pots and they can have anything. There is no need to fire more than 2 shells here. The river bet is just a spew and I know better.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1060816
Other than that, I can't find any other interesting hands. The other big pots I played are just a long line of suckouts and coolers that happen when you run bad. My ability to hit sets was non existent today also = can't win.
I think the quality of the games is excellent, especially at night. I just need to tone down the aggression a bit and not make these little mistakes for 10 bucks here, 20 bucks there. Very happy to be getting so many hands in.

Decent Day
Played more hands in one day than I have in quite awhile. I completed the FTP $600 bonus midway thru the day, so my results won't be getting bolstered by that anymore.
This game is so sick sometimes. I had a brief mental lapse at the very end blowing a buyin. I was so pissed off I just closed all my tables at that point.
The hand. I have been trying to incorporate playing AA a little slower preflop to get my winrate up with the hand. So I cold call a raise and a reraise preflop here. I know the reraiser has Queens or AK and will stack off much easier if I just call preflop. Whereas he will fold everything but KK if I 4 bet it. I forgot about the original raiser...
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1057544
So that hand really pissed me off cuz I completely misplayed it. I should have at least folded postflop when it was obvious I was beat. Anyways...its in the past, I will learn from it.

Well its been awhile...
Sorry bout that. Bunch of changes in my life. Not a ton of poker being played. I have been playing again the past few days and plan to play a lot this month so check back for lots of updates.
Played at 10NL, 25NL and 50NL the last few days. Just getting back to playing again and trying to find workarounds to the ongoing FTP lag issue. Also messing around with HUD's. I think I will give them a try again. I got picked apart a bit tonight at 50NL by some LAG's/Maniacs. I'm used to Loose/Tight Passives who fold to everything and it may have helped to know who was going to constantly play back at me.
Example of this. Double barrelling a maniac. The regular nits laydown AQ most of the time to my turn bet. This guy has a huge range, and I can find better spots to exploit that.
http://www.pokerhand.org/?1054471
Note: I will just post my VPIP, PFR and Winrate at the end of the month from now on. Its kind of pointless to post it from day to day. Reading this blog was starting to make my head spin. All previous posts have been edited. As always Bonuses are included in "Results" and Rakeback (once a month) will be noted.
