6max Swinging

I switched over to 6max recently. I am really enjoying it so far. It is a lot more fun to play than full ring. The swings are pretty crazy as seen by the graph above but I am starting to get used to it I think. I am only 25k hands in. I am killing NL50 for 5BB/100 and getting smoked at NL25 for -3BB/100 lol.

I am pouring over the hands each night in HEM. I'm still making a lot of mistakes but it is a learning process and I feel good about where I am going.

The vpp rate in 6max is much better than full ring. I am playing deep tables now though which brings it up but .24 at NL50 and .14 at NL25 is pretty cool.

The full ring tables these days are just so bone dry its ridiculous. I guess its still ok at NL25 but at NL50, its just not possible to load up 24 good tables. Running over nits doesn't really pay the bills. Busting fish does.

There are still a lot of nits in 6max but its not quite as bad as full ring. Plus since there's fewer people at the table you get to play more pots with any fish that show up. Its also nice to be able to just ship AK or QQ preflop and not even worry about it lol. So I am sticking with 6max indefinitely, while continuing to mix NL25 and NL50 for game selection.

My first video is up at DragTheBar I am not very happy with it...of course lol. I was kinda nervous as I have never made a video before and I made a lot of stupid mistakes at times in what I said.
The audio also turned out pretty bad.

The good news is that I have a sick new Sennheiser headset so there will never be audio problems again. And also, I learned a lot from making the first video and I think my subsequent ones will be much better. Please leave me your feedback here or on the forums there. I make the videos for you guys, not me.

Biggest pot I have played in years. Both villains are basically lunatics.

DTB videos

Just wanted to keep you guys posted on whats going on with my videos for DragTheBar. I made my first one yesterday and it will be released on Tuesday of next week. You guys wanted the lowest stakes and so that is exactly what I will be doing. The plan is for a 3 part series at each micro limit starting with NL2, then NL5 and then NL10, for a total of 9 videos. I will also be releasing a video solely dedicated to mass multi tabling, along with HUD setup, table selection and whatever else I can think of.

Downswinging + The Big News

Well poker sucks. Am on an 8 buyin downswing to start the month. I am still at NL25. Some pretty wicked setups lately. What can you do. I am just trying not to spew and stick it out. I still need to play way more. Gonna try and start pumping out the 10k hand days again starting tomorrow.

I'm not gonna move up to NL50 when I am downswinging but I think I am just gonna slowly mix it in anyways. I have really been working on ideas for table selection lately and honestly even at NL25 I often find myself on tables with all nits. 1 fish at least is my new rule! So ya, I may just mix stakes, to that end.

I can finally reveal the big news that I had alluded to before. I am now a coach at www.dragthebar.com. I will be making plenty of microstakes full ring videos in the near future! I am really pumped about joining this site. It has all my heros, Leatherass, Mbolt1, highly acclaimed mental game guru Jared Tendler and a ton of other great coaches.

Besides the sick lineup, one of the first things that sold me on this training site was the fact that they link all the coaches PTR pages right beside their name. No more coaches who can't beat the games! These guys all kill it. I encourage you all to check it out. You can test drive the site for free for 7 days. I am always in the forums there commenting on hands as well.

Important Edit:

Please note that this is a very old post and I no longer am a coach at Dragthebar.

However, I do have a brand new BlackRain79 Elite Poker University which is open for enrollment right here.

September Review/October Goals

The above is my graph for the month of September. The first 54k hands is NL5. The rest is NL25. I collected 13544 VPP which with the Platinum multiplier is worth $610 to me. Also 13.5kVPP is about $135 dollars in stellars.

$1337 in table winnings
+
$745 in rakeback

= $2082

181k hands is pretty low for me. I took quite a few days off early in the month. I need to play a lot more in October. I am being staked so I don't need to stick around at NL25 forever. My winrate was close to 2BB/100 there this month and the game is quite easy to me now. I will play the majority of my hands at NL50 in October.
