BlackRain79 Winnings - #1 Winner of All-Time 2NL & 5NL

My name is Nathan Williams, also known online as BlackRain79.

I have played a lot of online poker over the years. 

Well over 20 million hands at this point.

The chart below, from my early professional poker career, shows my results over the first 5 million hands or so.

This chart has been reposted and discussed countless times online now.

And it continues to be misinterpreted, misunderstood and taken wildly out of context again and again...

All of the hands below were played while on 24 tables at a time

This was an era in online poker where mass multi-tabling low stakes, alongside 6-figure rakeback programs like Supernova Elite, was a clearly optimized way to maximize your total profit as a professional poker player.

In fact, hitting Supernova Elite (SNE) on PokerStars was worth over $100,000 USD per year alone.

Guaranteed, variance-free.

And what was the easiest way to get SNE year after year with the least amount of stress and bankroll swings?

You guessed it, by playing millions of hands while mass multi-tabling at low stakes just like this.

And what also happens when you decide to do something "crazy" like play millions of hands in low stakes games?

It draws controversy and attention of course.

Now don't get me wrong. That wasn't my intention at all.

But this ultimately led to sponsorship offers from online poker rooms, training sites, affiliate deals, coaching requests and an explosion in traffic and attention to this blog and my YouTube channel.

All of that led to even more income streams including 3 best-selling books, multiple training courses and one of the biggest educational poker brands in the world.

This is the part that most people completely miss. 

Most long term pros in the modern era don't rely on just one income stream.

They have dozens instead.

Confusion Over Winrates

There has also been a lot of confusion online about my winrates themselves.

You may have noticed on the chart above that it says "BB/100" (Big Bets per 100 hands played).

And this is because back in the day online poker winrates were measured using the Limit Hold'em notation, "Big Bet." 

This is NOT the same thing as "bb/100" (Big Blinds per 100 hands played), which is how online poker winrates are measured today in the modern era.

So many people still get this confused...

A Big Bet is TWICE the value of a Big Blind.

Therefore, if you actually want an apples to apples comparison for my winrates on the chart above, you need to double them.

For Example:

My winrate above for 100NL says 2.56 BB/100

Converted to modern notation this becomes 5.12 bb/100

Massive difference.

Yet every single discussion of my winrates online fails to even notice this.

Anyways, I basically just give up at this point 😅

The internet, as always, will go ahead and do it's thing.

Lastly, my results above at 2NL and 5NL were the highest of all-time by a wide margin according to publicly tracked data mining by websites like PTR.

So hey, that's kinda cool!
